Dāna Privacy
Dāna is published by Ánië AI Studio ("we," "the studio") for the daily practice of Buddhist giving.
This policy explains what data Dāna collects, where it lives, and what happens to it.
The short version:
Dāna does not collect, transmit, share, or store any personal data on our servers — because we run no servers for Dāna.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not collect any data about you. We do not run any analytics, telemetry, tracking, or remote logging. No third-party SDKs are embedded in the app. We have no servers that receive data from your device.
The only system-level diagnostics that may flow off your device are Apple's standard reports (anonymized crash logs, launch metrics). These go to Apple, not to us, and only if you have opted in to share diagnostics with developers in your iOS Settings. We see them as anonymous, aggregated summaries from Apple.
Where your data lives
Everything you create in Dāna lives only on your device. This includes:
- Your pledges, confirmations, and notes
- Any photos you attach to confirmations
- Your personal dates (birthdays, anniversaries, days of remembrance)
- Your custom merit categories
- Your reading history and reflection-game history
- Your name and dedication, if you choose to set them
- Your preferences (language, currency, font size, audio toggles, theme)
If you uninstall Dāna, this data is removed with the app.
iCloud sync
If you turn on **iCloud Sync** in Profile → Sync, Dāna stores a single snapshot of your data in your own private iCloud account (Apple's iCloud private database). This data is held by Apple under your Apple ID and is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. The studio cannot read it. We cannot see who has it, how large it is, or whether it exists at all.
You can turn iCloud Sync off any time. You can delete the iCloud snapshot from Profile → Sync → "Delete iCloud snapshot" — that wipes the snapshot from your iCloud and turns sync off, without touching the local copy on your device.
In-app purchase
Dāna offers two optional one-time purchases — Studio Sponsor and Annual
Red Packet — that unlock additive premium features.
These are processed by Apple's App Store; the studio receives a per-purchase payout from Apple but does not receive your name, your payment information, or any identifier associated with you. Apple's privacy policy governs the purchase data. For any claims of refund, you will need to raise this with Apple. We will not contest any purchase claim for whatever reason.
There are no subscriptions and no auto-renewing charges.
Notifications
Dāna can send you a daily practice reminder and, if you opt in, yearly
local notifications for personal dates. These are scheduled and delivered
by your iOS device.
Photos
If you attach a photo to a confirmation (for example, a receipt or a quiet moment of practice), the photo is stored on-device alongside the confirmation, and synced via iCloud only if you have iCloud Sync turned on. Photos are never sent to the studio. You can delete a photo any time by editing the confirmation.
Children's privacy
Dāna is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including
children. The honor-system practice loop has no account, no login, and no
profile.
Third parties
We use no third-party analytics services, no advertising networks, no crash-reporting SDKs, and no social-media SDKs. The only third party in the data path is Apple, in its capacity as platform vendor (App Store, iCloud, StoreKit, Push Notifications). Apple's privacy practices are described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
Your rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete on your behalf. Data you have stored locally or in your own iCloud is yours to access, edit, or delete from inside the app at any time.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change this policy materially, the "Last updated" date at the bottom will change, and the new version will be published at the same URL.
